Small Business Development Center ȺAV (SBDC) is providing the community a chance to meet and connect with local authors and discover new reads at the Local Author Summer Reading Expo 5 – 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 23, at the Middletown Campus.
For just $5, authors can rent a table to display and sell their books.
Authors today are also entrepreneurs, building brands, connecting with customers, managing budgets, promoting products and finding creative ways to stand out in a crowded marketplace, said Andy Gyurisin, Laurel Ridge SBDC director, which is why those who plan to display their creations at the expo are required to attend the free SBDC class, “From Page to People: Marketing Strategies for Local Authors,” on June 15.
“In many ways, authors are small business owners with a very unique product: their imagination,” he said. “At Laurel Ridge SBDC, we’re excited to help local writers embrace both sides of that journey, the creative side and the business side. Whether it’s learning how to market a new release, grow an audience, navigate social media, or simply feel more confident promoting their work, this event is about helping authors turn passion into opportunity. And let’s be honest, every great book deserves more than sitting quietly on a shelf waiting for its big break.
“The Local Author Summer Reading Expo is proof that storytelling is alive and thriving in our region. We’re thrilled to partner with authors to help them sharpen not only their writing skills, but also the marketing strategies that help great books find great readers.”
